SRO INCIDENTS APPLICATION

The SRO Incidents application was developed by the Partnership for Results, Inc., in Auburn, NY for the direct purpose of allowing School Resource Officers (SRO’s) to record basic information about their daily activities. The primary emphasis of the SRO Incidents application is to record whatever inappropriate behaviors one or more individuals may commit, possibly against another individual. Because the emphasis of the SRO is on preventative and corrective behaviors, additions have been made to the application to include a record of whatever classes have been taught. Reports are available to help summarize and categorize incidents so that trends can be observed as well as individual behavior patterns can be tracked. Detailed Information

CHARI

The CHARI (CHildren At RIsk) application was developed for clinicians to record information on a regular basis about their clients:

Problem:
The struggle that people in the social services field often have is the time required to complete paperwork about their clients. As a result, information about clients is often entered into lengthy paper documents, to-do lists, spreadsheets or elsewhere making it hard to understand the overall impact that services are providing. It is particularly difficult for those cases that involve complex treatment plans, multiple service providers and many sources of information.

Features: CHARI offers a single point of assessment and accountability (SPOAA) for entering information and analyzing results. With CHARI, there is certain required information when the case is first opened, and then the clinician is required to enter progress type of information on a regular basis. The initial information includes demographic, family and education data; the regularly updated information is categorized into areas such as treatment plan and goals, service referrals, alcohol/substance abuse, mental health and medical events. An "Updates Required" report is available to prompt the clinician for required information about their clients. Through the use of drop down lists, a consistent user interface, a listing of all significant events and ready access to the information, data is entered in a regular and standardized manner.

Advantages:
As a result of using this application, clinicians state that they can easily enter the information into the database in a time-efficient manner. Supervisory personnel find that they do not have to wade through piles of progress notes or other material to obtain information that is readily available on-line. Clinicians and analytical personnel find they can easily assemble trend data about clients to help monitor progress, measure results and refine services.

TECHNICAL ARCHITECTURE OF THE PARTNERSHIP FOR RESULTS SRO DATABASE

Application Structure:

The technical architecture of the SRO Database begins with a centralized Microsoft Windows Server and Microsoft SQL Server database.  The front-end (SROs in schools) utilizes the latest version of Microsoft Internet Explorer.  The system is accessible via a local Intranet (which, in all likelihood would be the school’s Local Area Network [LAN]); the system could also be accessible through a network connection to a remote server by special agreement with the Partnership .

This model provides the ability to centrally maintain and administer the application and data and offer complete security and reliability.  See below for hardware and software requirements.

The architecture is designed for centralized management and administration.  The only end-user requirements are a PC, Microsoft’s latest web browser (Internet Explorer 6.0 or above).

System Access:

Users log-on to the system with a User ID and Password provided to them by an administrative organization upon proper approval.  Microsoft’s authentication model is applied for security purposes.  A Virtual Private Network (VPN) can be established for remote access from locations such as a police department.

Overview of architectural features:

The SRO Database’s architecture offers:

  • A centralized LAN (sometimes known as Intranet) system permitting a single point of administration, development and support.
  • The ability to obtain the most recent student directory data provided by the school system, giving the SRO’s current information for identifying and locating students.
  • Ability to offer customized functionality based on individual groups or organizations.
  • Centralized system administration such as scheduled backups, database and application modification and maintenance.
  • Centralized reporting at the organization level of all data.

  • Application/database server configuration and setup issue resolution.
  • End-user application support, i.e. general how-to questions.
  • Research and troubleshooting of non-application errors and items discovered by end-user.
  • Application look-up/support tables maintenance, e.g. add new personnel roles.
  • Telephone/Email Support:  Call back within 8 business hours of receiving the service request during local business hours.

The Partnership and Bridge Technical Systems are able, on a case-by-case basis, to provide database maintenance and backup support.

The SRO Database Technical Support Package does not include tasks associated with resolving problems in client networks that may result in the SRO database being unavailable due to client workstation issues or the failure of the delivery of the student directory data.

The technical support staff of the Partnership reserve the right to determine what is considered an application error or issue and whether the application is performing as it was designed.  If changes or enhancements are requested to resolve the issue then it will be treated as defined under the ‘Site-Specific Tailoring’.
